Hi all, This is Colorkrew engineering team.

As an international team, we have members from around 20 different countries. From first day we join this team, we respect each other’s culture and support everyone to work well in the company and have a good life in Japan. We have 2 teams, software engineering team and infra engineering team. The software engineering team is responsible for web development, data, and AI/ML tasks. The infra engineering team is responsible for building, tuning, and troubleshooting the infrastructure. We cooperate closely with each other to finish our development and resolve customers' inquiries quickly and efficiently.

As engineers, we are proud of our engineering work. We are confident in building web services with decent quality and user experience. To realize it, we build engineering process optimized for our team, including technical solution review, task estimation review, code review and CI/CD. In addition, we are quite open to trying innovative solutions actively but will only adapt to the team after careful verification. We provide a specific engineering budget for trying new software/tool or purchasing hardware to improve our engineering efficiency further.

Our vision is to deliver excellent value for our customers with good speed. We care about our customers very much and are serious about every of our deliveries. To make sure customers can use our service effectively, we react fast if customers encounter issues and always try to improve the quality of the user experience.

We put communication in a critical position. Everyone is encouraged to speak up during the technical discussion. Combined with our open culture and flat team structure, we focus on proceeding with technical discussions effectively and making sure a better solution is chosen as a team decision. In addition, we have hackathons with different interesting topics every year. We also have camp every half year to build relationships and organize events to gather after work to enjoy our life.

We provide a decent work life balance in the team. We do not encourage overtime work at all and expect members to concentrate on development performance. People with better performance would get better evaluation and could get promotion fast. For overtime hours in detail, it is about10 hours every month on average.

For technical stack, our engineering teams used to use Laravel (PHP) heavily. However, we decided to move to Golang/React to build our latest products. For now, over 70% of our products have already been using Golang/React. For Infra side, we are using Azure as the default choice. We also have some products using AWS or GCP. We make decisions based on performance, learning curve and future of the language/framework/solution. We always consider how to improve our engineering further, including availability, performance, and scalability. We are open to change if we believe the new technical stack is good for our future development.
